Chris Amberger and the Hot Dogs
featuring the Gabe Gladstein Trio

When: Saturday, Aug. 16
Where: Seasons of the Vineyard, 115 Plaza St., Healdsburg
Time: 4 – 6 pm; no cover.

Chris Amberger, the Bay Area’s preeminent upright bassist and a Berklee College of Music graduate, has been performing and recording with a long list of jazz greats since the late sixties, among them Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby McFerrin, Cal Tjader, and Dexter Gordon. His extensive experience lends a unique groove and classic sound to the Gabe Gladstein Trio, aka “the Hot Dogs.”

Featuring Gabe Gladstein on electric violin, Zak Leever on piano, and Chris Amberger on upright bass, the so-called “Hot Dogs” have been playing locally for several years, but seem ready to break out on a wider scale.  Gabe and Zak began playing together as freshmen at Maria Carrillo High School in Santa Rosa, and have worked together in many settings since that time.

They have won multiple ensemble and solo awards in regional jazz competitions for their creative energy and musicality, and have played some of the Bay Area’s premier venues, from the Rrazz Room Club in San Francisco to Mayacama Golf Club in Sonoma County.

In the Fall of 2014, Gabe will continue his education as a sophomore at Harvard University and the New England Conservatory of Music, while Zak will continue as a sophomore at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. We’re lucky to have them show off their chops at Seasons of the Vineyard on Saturday, Aug. 16
