The Healdsburg Jazz Festival (HJF) is launching the HJF Freedom Jazz Choir in early 2013 to continue to expand its musical offerings and the jazz experience to Sonoma County residents, students and to new venues.
Healdsburg Jazz Festival is recommended for a $20,000 grant to support a tribute to NEA Jazz Master Charlie Haden. Tribute dates are June 1 and 2 and will be part of the larger 10-day festival, May 31 – June 9, 2013. More than 20 performers representing various phases of the bassist-composer-bandleader’s career are slated to participate in this two-day celebration of his music culminating in a concert by the 12-piece Liberation Music Orchestra.
