“The single-note grace of Herbie Hancock…
the joyous two-fisted attacks of Chick Corea”
— DownBeat
Composer and pianist Harold López-Nussa is considered one of Cuba’s most acclaimed emerging musical stars. He is on tour from Cuba to promote his new release Un Día Cualquiera. This recording is a forceful statement with Harold leading his tight-knit Cuban band.
The album nods to classic Cuban composers and musicians but it focuses mostly on pianist Harold López-Nussa’s original compositions and his distinctive trio concept. The trio features younger brother Ruy López-Nussa on drums and percussion, and bassist Gaston Joya – the same group the pianist first debuted a decade ago in Cuba.

Harold’s 2016 debut album on Mack Avenue reached No. 1 on iTunes Jazz and No. 2 on the Amazon Jazz chart. His new album Un Día Cualquiera is going to further his legacy, and seeing him and his trio in Healdsburg will be a treat for our local rhythm-loving jazz audience.
